Navy nabs drug peddler

The Navy took a drug peddler into custody with 205g of Kerala cannabis in his possession, during a search operation conducted in coordination with the Police STF in the Kadurupokuna area, Tangalle on Monday.

The naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command and the Police STF conducted the search operation.

The suspect who is a resident of the Kadurupokuna area in Tangalle was identified as a peddler involved in the distribution of drugs.

Subsequently, the suspect along with cannabis was handed over to the Tangalle Police for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Navy arrested another drug trafficker during a search operation carried out at the Kudawella Fishery Harbour on June 27. Following the directives of Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, the Navy has strengthened its missions to bust drug trafficking efforts in a bid to wipe out this menace from the country.
