UTS Insearch Sri Lanka to woo foreign students

The Australian based ‘UTS Insearch Sri Lanka’ University which will open in October will woo foreign students from the region to study in Sri Lanka, opening up Sri Lanka as a regional education hub, said Chair of UTS Insearch Sri Lanka, Professor John Wood.

He said that their university also has opened up in other parts of Asia and Sri Lanka was selected above other countries in the region due to its high skill of education professionals. ““We are investing more than US$ 2 million in the establishment of our new college in Colombo, which demonstrates our commitment to Sri Lanka and our confidence in the economy and education sector,” he said.

“Firstly we will offer our popular Diploma of Business, Diploma of Engineering and Diploma of IT and then introduce more coursers. Our ultimate aim is to build our own campus in Colombo.”

To celebrate the launch the new institute will offer 10 scholarships for the top students who commence their studies with its inaugural academic session this year.

The scholarships, worth a total of Rs. 8 million and will cover the full tuition for a two or three semester diploma, or the UTS Foundation Studies program at UTS Insearch Sri Lanka.

In addition, the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), will offer scholarships to students who complete their diploma program with UTS Insearch Sri Lanka, and continue to pursue their Bachelor’s degree at UTS in Sydney.

Managing Director of UTS Insearch, Alex Murphy said that most of the students, who pass out from their University of Technology Sydney, start their own businesses or become employable among top corporate.”

UTS Insearch Sri Lanka’s programs will support students to develop the academic skills and knowledge for success at university. “Our aim is to produce graduates who are confident, have strong academic knowledge and person skills, and are well equipped for the future of work, anywhere in the world,” said UTS Insearch Managing Director, Alex Murphy. The University of Technology Sydney is a dynamic and innovative university, ranked 1st as Australia’s top young university in the 2019 QS Top 50 under 50, and is ranked 140th in the world.
