Diversified conglomerate Sunshine Holdings was conferred with the Silver award for Best Investor Relations at the recently-concluded CFA Sri Lanka Capital Market Awards 2019, the annual flagship event of the CFA Society Sri Lanka.
For the ‘Best Investor Relations’ award, 16 companies were shortlisted based on the strength of their investor relation practices. Accessibility of management, quality, transparency and fairness in their disclosures and the company’s reaction to reports that are not necessarily favourable were some of the attributes evaluated by an expert panel of judges.
Sunshine Holdings’ efforts towards maintaining effective and transparent two-way communications with the investment community through different communication channels were honored at the awards ceremony.
Commenting on this exceptional achievement, Vish Govindasamy, Group Managing Director of Sunshine Holdings said, “At Sunshine, we fully recognise our responsibility towards our investors, both local and foreign as well as institutional and retail. The award is a clear testament to the considerable efforts which our management and Investor Relations team made to fulfil our commitment to transparent and timely communication with the investment community as well as to best corporate governance practices.”
Innovation has played a crucial role in strengthening Sunshine’s investor relations further as the company has successfully conducted several quarterly investor meetings through its webinar system during the last financial year.
Furthermore, Sunshine’s corporate website has a separate section on investor relations where it provides access to interim quarterly reports and past online investor forums.
“Looking ahead, in a professional and socially responsible manner, Sunshine Holdings will continue to adhere to its proven practices, strive to maintain good investor relations and outstanding corporate governance to create sustainable values for shareholders,” Govindasamy commented further.
The Company has taken a proactive approach in holding self-arranged meetings to reach out to shareholders and potential investors.
The Capital Market Awards is the only industry awards ceremony of its kind in Sri Lanka that recognises and rewards the best performance in Sri Lanka’s capital market.
CFA Sri Lanka is the local affiliate of the CFA Institute, a global association of investment professionals.
