CIPM Sri Lanka, consequent to receiving the Charter status, awarded recertified CIPM certificates to its Associate Member category at a ceremony held at the Water’s Edge in Battaramulla recently.

Accordingly, 140 out of 500 Associate Members of CIPM received their certificates at the ceremony which was organized by the Standing Committee on Membership Services led by its Chairman Jayantha Abeyratne. CIPM Sri Lanka President Dhammika Fernando, Secretary Ken Vijayakumar, CEO P.G. Tennakoon, Past Presidents, representatives of the CIPM Executive Council and invitees representing the HR fraternity were present at the occasion.

Welcoming the Associate Members and all those present representing the people management fraternity, Dhammika Fernando-President, CIPM Sri Lanka requested the audience to observe a moment of silence to honor the dead and departed at the recent Easter Sunday carnage.

The President of CIPM Sri Lanka in his welcome address thanked the members of the Governing Council and the Standing Committees and their members for going the extra mile to transform CIPM. He also made a presentation of the work done so far and the significant achievements of the Governing Council during the current year, key amongst which was obtaining of the Charter Status.

“In November 2018, we received the prestigious Charter status. There will be many advantages accruing to our membership consequent to achieving the Charter Status, and the membership should take maximum use of these benefits both in the work place as well as within the people management fraternity” said Dhammika Fernando-President, CIPM Sri Lanka.

“Many activities such as the great HR Charity Walk were organized and executed during the current year which gave an opportunity to bring the membership together. Leading CIPM into the digital and green future is the new Learning Management System (LMS) which is being deployed to efficiently manage the academic activities. The LMS will reduce the use of paper and will better facilitate the students in the academic activities” he added.

CIPM was founded in 1959 – incorporated by Parliamentary Act No. 24 of 1976, amended by Act No. 31 of 2018. CIPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resource Management and to the World Federation of People Management Associations.
