Romanian nabbed with 75 ATM cards from Panadura remanded

Panadura Chief Magistrate Amila Ariyasena last Thursday remanded a Romanian national named Avran Andrew Daniel who was involved in several frauds running in to millions of rupees committed from private bank ATM machines in the Western Province.

The suspect was produced from the Kalutara Remand Prison on a complaint from Commercial Bank’s Panadura Branch.

Earlier, when the Criminal Investigations Department officials arrested the suspect near the bank branch, he was found to be in possession of fraudulent ATM Cards. He is alleged to have withdrawn millions of rupees from the bank branch using the fraudulent ATM Cards. According to CID officials, 75 fraudulent ATM cards had been seized from his possession.

The CID submitted a ‘B’ report to the Court on Thursday. The Chief Magistrate directed the CID Officer who appeared before Court to conduct a comprehensive investigations into the matter and submit a full report on July 12 to Court.
