New district hospital opens in Hambantota today

The new district hospital in Hambantota built with Dutch funding will be opened by President Maithripala Sirisena today.
The new district hospital in Hambantota built with Dutch funding will be opened by President Maithripala Sirisena today.

The new district hospital in Hambantota, built with Dutch funding, will be opened by President Maithripala Sirisena at 3.00 pm today.

Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Dutch Ambassador will participate in the opening ceremony.

The hospital was built with Euro 46.8 million funding by the Dutch government and is a modern hospital with 850 beds.

Construction of the hospital began in 2012. The hospital includes quarters for doctors and nurses.
