Galle’s Monrovia garbage processing plant revived

Reprocessing process of the Monroviyawatta garbage recycling project at Rathgama, Galle which had been crippled for several years has resumed again. Southern Province governor Keethi Tennakoon took measures to rectify a number of shortcomings at the reprocessing plant.

Additional employees have been deployed and two new reprocessing machines were procured in restoring the plant back. At present 300 metric tonnes of compost manure are produced monthly.

Following the renovation of the garbage reprocessing plant long perssited waste disposal problem of a number of neighbouring Local Government institutions including the Galle Municipal council, Ambalangoda and Hikkaduwa Urban Councils and Rathgma and Bope-Poddala Pradeshiya Sabha’s has been satisfactorily solved.
