Prince Charles and Zara's special bond

Prince Charles isn't famous for public displays of affection, however the senior royal didn’t hold back when he saw niece Zara Tindall at Royal Ascot.

Charles, 70, and Zara, 38, were photographed with their arms around each other on Tuesday The pair were all smiles as they chatted happily together at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, at one stage joined by Charles' wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Zara is the daughter of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips and the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, and doesn’t hold a royal title.

The Prince of Wales is clearly close to his niece, having previously been photographed laughing and giggling together. The pair enjoy a far less formal relationship than those of Charles and his daughters-in-law, Kate and Meghan.

"Zara is blood family," Rob Jobson, who wrote a book on Charles, told Fabulous Digital.

"He has known her since she was a baby, so it is far closer than, say, his relationship with his daughter-in-laws.
