The Maruthamunai Public Library Road in the Kalmunai Divisional Secretariat Division is currently being renovated under the Ran Mawath Rural Road Maintenance and Construction Programme.
The estimated cost of the project, Rs.15 million, had been granted by the Highways and Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development Ministry.
The reconstruction work was inaugurated at a special ceremony by chief guests Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Deputy Leader and former Provincial Councils and Local Government State Minister H.M.M. Harees.
The Maruthamunai Public Library Road has been in a state of disrepair for several years.
The government has initiated rural road development projects in the Ampara District and they are presently under way at a Divisional Secretariat Divisional-level. SLMC officials, members of the boards of management of mosques, as well as residents of the area also participated in the inauguration ceremony.
