Ashan Malalasekera receives Global Buddhist Ambassador Award

Ashan Malalasekera, founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Malalasekera Foundation, received the Global Buddhist Ambassador Award from the World Alliance of Buddhists based in Thailand, recently, at an International Award Presentation ceremony held at the Global Buddhist Building (the Master Nun Chand Khonnokyoong Centennial Building) at Patumthani, Thailand.

Malalasekera is a grandson of eminent Pali scholar Prof. Gunapala Malalasekera, who initiated a meeting of global Buddhist leaders in Sri Lanka in 1950 which resulted the inauguration of the first international Buddhist organisation in the world: the World Fellowship of Buddhists.

Ashan Malalasekera obtained a BA degree at Lycoming College in Pensylvania, USA. He also holds an MA degree from the University of New South Wales in Australia. He is Chairman of Arinma Holdings and is also a Director in several other leading companies in the island.
