Raising youth voices for change

The second session of Puttalam Youth Model United Nations 2018 was conducted recently at Puttalam Zahira National College. It had been organized by a small group of youth, aiming to gather more than 150 youth delegates from Puttalam district under the theme “An arena to connect the voice of community”.

This event was held for two days with the participants’ parents providing funds for the event. Five controversial international topics were taken for debate by five committees focusing on the way how the United Nations’ assemblies dealt with them.

The organizing team will publish the discussions and the recommendations of the participants and will hand it over to the relevant authorities soon.

A cake was cut during the inauguration of the event by the Chief Guest and the Chairman of Puttalam Urban Council K A Baiz, to mark the anniversary of PYMUN. Insaf Bakeer Markar, the Youth representative of SriLanka to the UN, Yoounus Nizam, the Secretary General of PYMUN 2018 and Sajjadh Jowfer, the President of PYMUN 2018 took part.
