Beggar organises Dansela for second consecutive year

In a rare occurance, a beggar in Matara organised a Dansela in the heart of Matara town yesterday for the second consecutive year.

A man by the name of Appuhamy from Matugama said he started begging after having lost his all properties and belongings.

He collected around Rs.40,000 to organize this Dansela opposite the Matara Municipal Council. Cakes and Beli Mal were served to the public patronizing the Dansela.

He said that he gives a retailer in the town a portion of his collection for safe keeping and this money was used to conduct the Dansela.

“My daily collection is around Rs. 1,400 to Rs.2,000 and on somedays I collect around Rs.3,000. Therefore, I made up my mind to provide a meal to the public who donate money to me everyday.
