SLFP-SLPP talks postponed

The sixth round of talks between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna which was set to be held today has been postponed until 26 June.

SLFP General Secretary MP Dayasiri Jayasekara talking to Daily News said that the reason behind postponing the meeting is to carry further discussions with the party leaders and there is no any other reason behind postponing the talks.

The fifth round of talks between the two parties on a possible alliance was held on 7th June and the next round was scheduled to be held today.

The main focus of the talks will be to discuss the possibilities of forming a broader political alliance between SLFP and SLPP to contest upcoming elections, with a long-term intention to lay the foundation to find a suitable candidate for the Presidential Election, which is likely to be held at the end of this year.
