Keen tussle for supremacy in Simithrachchi Cup

A keen tussle for supremacy can be expected today when the two under 18 sides of Trinity and Royal clash for the C.E. Simithrachchi Cup, one hour before the senior game. This trophy was donated by an old Trinitian George Hemachandara in memory of their past principal Charles Edward Simithrachchi. In the first leg played at Pallekelle, Trinity juniors scored a splendid win over Royal juniors by 31 points to 5.

It was the Trinity forwards who won them the match. They were outstanding in the loose play, getting behind the ball fast and tackling well. Their bustling game completely upset the Royal forwards who could not win the ball however hard they tried. The Royal halves worked well, with the scrumhalf slinging out his passes accurately and fly half opening out the game and also finding good touch when on the defence, but failed to score. Today they are expected to give a good display in their home den.
