Govt. to open 14,000 Nila Sevana offices

A total of 14,000 Nila Sevana offices will be established islandwide and Rs. 2.5 million will be spent on each office, Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.

Speaking at the opening of a Nila Sevana office in Malegoda in the Beruwala electorate recently, he said the Home Affairs Ministry will establish Nila Sevana offices in every Grama Niladhari division in the country at a cost of Rs. 35,000 million.

According to Minister Senaratne, there is no unity in the country now and as a result there is an anarchical situation in the country.

The economy and the tourism industry have slowed down. The favourable image of the country created by the yahapalana government has now turned into an unfavourable one at international level.

Minister Senaratne said that during a recent Ifthar function, the ambassadors from Islamic countries had told President Maithripala Sirisena that Muslims in Sri Lanka are being harassed. A large number of Sri Lankan women are employed in their countries as housemaids. All should unite and work to develop the country.

It is very easy to destroy the country. But re-building it is very difficult. Now the funds which had been allocated for development need to spent on paying compensation and rebuilding, he said.
