Newly appointed Western Province Governor, A.J.M. Muzammil yesterday assured to serve all irrespective of their race, religion, caste or political differences.
He said President Maithripala Sirisena appointed him to the post not to engage in politics and he would perform his duty towards people to the letter.
The Governor stated this speaking to media after assuming duties at his office in Rajagiriya yesterday. He thanked President Sirisena for appointing him as the Governor and giving him an opportunity to serve the public.
Muzammil expressed the recent Easter Sunday bomb blasts were orchestrated by Muslim extremists. He thanked the President and the government for being able to bring the situation under control within weeks.The Governor was also thankful to the Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith for supporting that.
“It was the members of the Muslim community who tipped-off about the perpetrators”, he said.
Speaking to the public servants he said “The public servants are asked to perform your duties as soon as possible you can and take correct decisions on behalf of the public.I am there to help you”.
