Civil Security Department to be regularised

The Civil Security Department (CSD) will be regularised as a full-fledged State service and its personnel will be covered by a pension scheme, President Maithripala Sirisena has announced. This will be in fulfilment of a promise he had given in 2015, the President has disclosed.

The President was speaking after he ceremonially inaugurated the CSD headquarters constructed at a cost of Rs. 120 million in Colombo recently.

In his address, the President drew attention to the letter he received from the CSD personnel, and gave assurance that he would attend to their request.

Referring to the request for a pension scheme for Civil Security personnel, President Sirisena said he would discuss with the Finance Ministry on ways to implement such a scheme. He also promised the granting of an allowance for retired CSD officers.

The Ven. Ittepane Dhammalankara Nayake Thera, Ven. Dr.Kotugoda Dhammawasa Anunayake Thera, Defence State Minister Ruwan Wijewardene and Defence Ministry Secretary, General (Retd.) Shantha Kottegoda, also participated at the inauguration which was attended by a large gathering.
