Gang attacks filling station

Four persons who allegedly assaulted the manager and workers of a filling station at Moragahahena were arrested by the Moragahahena Police yesterday.

This gang came to the fuel station yesterday and requested fuel to be filled in a bottle. When the fuel station staff refused their request, they became violent, police said.

They had assaulted the filling station staff with clubs and had stolen more than Rs. 100,000 from the fuel station, police said.

Five injured staff of the fuel station were admitted to the Horana Hospital and later, the manager of the filling station was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.

Police seized the three-wheeler in which the gang came, while the CCTV camera at the filling station clearly showed a group of people assaulting the workers.

Police said investigations reveal this gang were residents of Gonapola, Kubukawatte.
