Govt. to recruit 22,000 unemployed graduates

The government is to recruit around 22,000 unemployed graduates for development projects soon, Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said.

He was speaking at a meeting of unemployed graduates of the Kurunegala District that was held on Tuesday in Kuliyapitiya, Kurunegala.

This is to be carried out under a proposal submitted by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, he added.

Minister Kariyawasam said the candidates were to be recruited for the Gamperaliya and Enterprise Sri Lanka projects that were launched last year, and that those who wish to apply should submit their applications by June 15.

Those chosen would be recruited as trainee project officers by the National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development and Youth Affairs Ministry, the minister said.
