Nabbed with heroin

The Organised Crime Prevention Division, acting on a tip-off, took a suspect into custody with 400.93 grammes of heroin in her possession in the Dharmapala Mawatha area in the Dehiwala Police Division.

The suspect was identified as Hewa Pathiranage Jayanthi, a 42-year-old resident of Dehiwala.

She was to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court yesterday and the Organized Crime Prevention Division is continuing investigations.

Meanwhile, a suspect was arrested with 10.52 grammes of heroin in the Thotalanga area in the Grandpass Police Division.

The raid was conducted by the Colombo Crime Division, on a tip-off and the suspect was identified as Nadaraja Ravindran, a 40-year-old resident of Colombo 14.

He was to be produced before the Maligakande Magistrate’s Court yesterday and the Colombo Crimes Division is continuing investigations.

Arrested with Cannabis seeds

Embilipitiya Police took two suspects into custody when they were transporting 1.95 Kg of cannabis seeds in a buddy lorry recntly.

The 33 and 44-year-old suspects were identified as residents of Katuwana and Middeniya.

They were to be produced before the Embilipitiya Magistrate’s Court yesterday and Embilipitiya Police are continuing investigations.

Three die in road accidents

A cyclist died after he was knocked down by a cab near the St. Jude’s Church in the Kilinochchi Police Division.

The victim had succumbed to his injuries on admission to the Kilinochchi Hospital. The deceased was identified as Thureirasa Pushparaja, a 48-year-old resident of Kilinochchi. The body is kept at the Kilinochchi Hospital and Kilinochchi Police are continuing further investigations to arrest the suspect.

Meanwhile, an unidentified vehicle had fled the area after knocking down a pedestrian in the Batepola area in the Diwulapitiya Police Division.

He had succumbed to his injuries on admission to the Diwulapitiya Hospital.

The deceased was identified as Heenkenda Mudalige Ratnapala, a 67-year-old resident of Diwulapitiya.

The body is kept at the Diwulapitiya Hospital and Diwulapitiya Police are investigating.

Meanwhile, a man was killed when his motorcycle crashed into an utility pole in the Kalamulla area in the Payagala Police Division.

The victim was rushed to the Nagoda Hospital and then to the Colombo General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was identified as Mohammed Yusuf Mohammed Asar, a 37-year-old resident of Kalutara.

The body is kept at the Colombo General Hospital and Payagala Police are investigating.

Body found

The body of a man was found in his car near the Sandoris Jayanthi Avenue in the Athurugiriya Police Division.

The deceased was identified as Mohotti Arachchilage Rahula Jayasampath, a 48-year-old resident of Malabe.

The postmortem was performed at the Colombo General Hospital and Athurugiriya Police are investigating.
