‘Very few to help the poor’

There are many to help the rich, but there are very few to help the poor, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.

On his arrival from Geneva after receiving one of the Vice Presidencies of the WHO, he said he will celebrate the silver jubilee of his political career in August and he always served the poor. “I always work with honesty and serve the country in agreement with my consciousness. I know very well why I came into politics,” he said.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Suwa Nari Clinic programme in India after Sri Lanka opened them here. Arrangements will be made to increase the benefits offered through those clinics from 35 percent to 100 percent, he added.
