Athuraliye Rathana Thera, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera accused yesterday. The minister in a post in his Twitter account requested the attention of Vatican towards the Cardinal’s actions.

The Archbishop of Colombo meeting Ven. Rathana Thera in Kandy yesterday morning expressed his solidarity with the monk’s fast-unto death campaign which had entered the fourth day.

The Cardinal, speaking to the media personnel gathered at the premises, said that he too supports the demand to remove Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and Governors M.L.A.M. Hizbullah and Azath Salley from their respective posts. The Cardinal complained that justice had not been meted out to the people who lost their lives in the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

The Cardinal visited Ven. Rathana Thera when the latter’s campaign had reached a peak before the announcement of the resignations of both the Governors and all Muslim Ministers. “Malcolm Ranjith fanning the flames of hatred and communalism by visiting fasting robed MP Rathana. Vatican TAKE NOTE!,” Minister Samaraweera took the Cardinal on also tagging the official Twitter handles of His Holiness Pope Francis and Vatican News to his post. Meanwhile, Minister Samaraweera in a tweet said that hatred never appeased by hatred but by non hatred alone is hatred appeased.

Hatred is never appeased by hatred. By non – hatred alone is hatred appeased. This is a law eternal. Today It was left to our Muslim Ministers to exhibit this sacred teaching of Lord Buddha while imposters in robes incited hatred in his name A shameful day for our beloved Lanka.
