Traffic lane law to be firmly enforced in two weeks

Police will firmly enforce the traffic lane law after a two-week grace period given to motorists, said the Police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera.

“The grace period starts today. Heavy vehicle drivers including buses are urged to make the best use of the grace period to get use to traffic lanes”, he said.

“We are planning to firmly enforce the traffic lane law. We request all motorists to get accustomed to the traffic lane system, which will bring a range of benefits to them and all road users,” he said. “It will reduce congestion, improve journey time reliability and enhanced safety,” he said.
