Vocational training for differently-abled

The Thelambuyaya Vocational Training Centre in Angunakolapelessa in Hambantota has commenced vocational training programmes for differently-abled youth in the Southern region.

Agriculture, wood technology, tailoring, electronics, computer studies, and pastry and bakery courses include in the programme.

Trainees receive an allowance. Free lodging are provided for them, a senior spokesman for the institute said. The trainees can easily get jobs after completing these courses, he said.

The Department of Social Services funds and handles the programmes.
