PS councillor’s house attacked

A gang has attacked a provincial councillor of the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) Kamal Chandana's two storey house in Godagama, Taranga Pedesa yesterday morning, Meegoda police said.

The CCTV cameras at the location showed several persons coming on three motorcycles for the attack. They had covered their faces by full face helmets. Investigations revealed that the attack had done with swords and sticks.

While no member of the councillor's family has sustained any injuries from the attack, a car, a motorcycle and several windows of the house were seriously damaged.

‘I heard a sound about 2.30 am and when I came out, I saw several persons fleeing’, Kamal Chandana said.

He has received death threats via phone calls from a foreign country number several days ago, police said.

Police said investigations have commenced to arrest the suspects based on the security cameras which installed near the house and the relevant information.
