India will support Lanka’s fight against terrorism

Indian High Commissioner in Colombo Taranjit Singh Sandhu yesterday said that India will stand shoulder to shoulder with Sri Lanka in its fight against terrorism.

He said that India will help Sri Lanka recover following the deadly Easter Sunday attacks as a true friend.

“Our two countries have centuries old cultural and historical bonds and we offer our fullest support to Sri Lana in dealing with the common threat of Jihadi terrorism,” he said.

The Indian High Commissioner made these observations after calling on the Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatte Chapter Most Ven Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera and Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter the Most Ven. Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thera in Kandy.

He said Sri Lanka should stand strong and face the challenge of terrorism. “Both Sri Lanka and India have faced the threat of terrorism and it should be effectively dealt with,” he said.

The High Commissioner while condemning the deadly Easter Sunday attacks said 11 Indian nationals were among the victims

He said that India is ready to extend any support to Sri Lanka if it faces any difficulty in dealing with Jihadi terrorism.
