A CR & FC swimming pool attendant arrested over an incident for allegedly mixing chlorine beyond the recommended quantity to the swimming pool’s waters was ordered to be remanded till May 27 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarathne.
Cinnamon Gardens Police informed the Magistrate that five children were admitted to the Colombo General Hospital after they experienced breathing difficulties. Police said they received a complaint regarding this incident that several children were suffering from breathing difficulties. Police further stated four out of the five children were discharged from hospital.
The National Swimming coach of the CR & FC Manoj Abeysinghe was also arrested over the incident. However, he was released on bail by the Chief Magistrate on two sureties of Rs.300,000 each.
Attorney-at-Law Sajitha Jayawardane appeared on behalf of the first suspect.
