Thirteen-year-old Mahasen Bandara Samarakoon, a Gr.9 student of Dharmaraja College,Kandy is a soccer player with a lot of talent who has won the Best Player’s trophy on two occasions this year. He became the Best Player at the Under 16 Soccer Tournament organized by the SISU Soccer Club as well as the Nawalanka Sports Club, Kandy recently. He scored 11 goals throughout the soccer tournament which was

organized by the Nawalanka Sports Club. He uses both feet effectively and is able to play at any position. His soccer coaches are W.A.Priyantha and E.Wijewardena, both are from the Municipal Playgrounds Department Kandy.

He is a bright student who is always among the first 10 out of 55 students in his class and his favorite subject is science.

Mahasen wants to continue soccer while doing his studies as he wants to represent the National soccer team in the future while becoming a scientist. His favorite international soccer player is Lionel Messee of Argentina. He is the only son of the former National soccer player, the late Piyatissa Samarakoon.
