Govt. and Opposition members to propose Cardinal for Nobel Peace Prize

Government and Opposition Members of Parliament expressed their views in Parliament yesterday that Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize this time.

All Parliamentarians irrespective of party or religious differences, praised the efforts taken by the Cardinal to avert a disaster in the country and spread the word of peace, which helped in maintaining peace among all segments of our society.

The statements were made by specifically by the UPFA MP Mahinda Amaraweera, Non-Cabinet Minister Radhakrishnan and UNP-MP Harshana Rajakaruna, which was accepted by all present in the House.

All Parliamentarians pledged to give their fullest support to take every measure as a country to have the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the Cardinal for the efforts taken by him to maintain peace in the country without any partiality to any religion or race.
