VCs to decide on University openings

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has delegated authority to the Vice Chancellors (VCs) of the universities and the higher educational institutes to decide on the dates to begin academic activities in their institutes.

UGC Chairman, Prof. Mohan de Silva issuing a media release said academic activities could commence at any date after May 13, once the Vice Chancellor is satisfied with the security situation of the university.

The Sri Jayawardenapura University announced that the faculties except the Engineering faculty and the Management faculty will be open for academic activities on May 14.
