The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake that the two suicide bombers who blew themselves at the Shangri-la Hotel in Colombo had rented over seven houses in several areas.

The CID stated that Thawheed Jamaath Leader Mohammed Zahran was the mastermind of the blasts. The two suicide bombers had been identified as National Thawheed Jamaath members ‘Abhu Bakthar’ and ‘Abhu Bhara’, CID said.

These two suicide bombers had rented the houses at Lucky Plaza in Kollupitiya, Mahawila, Kochchikade and Badalgama among others. Fifteen statements from the owners of those houses had been taken and submitted a summary of the statements before the Magistrate, the CID informed Court.

The suicide bombers had rented seven vehicles for their use. The vehicles had been sent for the Government Analyst to verify whether they have transported any explosives.

The Magistrate directed the Government Analyst to submit a report before Court.
