Rajitha passes 1,000 run mark

The captain of Siri Piyarathne College Padukka Rajitha Ashan Jayasinghe bid farewell to his alma mater in grand style when he passed the magical 1,000 runs in the first XI 2018 19 cricket season. Rajitha bats right hand and bowls right arm medium pace.

He commenced his school career at Amarasiri Padmaperuma Vidyalaya Arukwatta and joined Siri Piyarathne in grade six in 2014 and in the same year he was selected to the under 13 cricket team and later played for the under 15 and 17 teams. In 2014 he was selected to the first XI cricket team and played for five successive years, leading his alma mater in the last season. He played in three Big Matches and won colours. In 2017/18 season he scored 860 runs with two centuries and seven fifties. He also claimed 32 wickets. In the following year he scored 630 runs. When Siri Piyarathne won the division three under 19 championship he was a member of the team and scored 460 runs.

This season he scored 1,045 runs with a top score of 152 runs against Sri Palee College Horana with seven fifties. The Principal Nihal Padmasiri and Master in Charge of Cricket Sham Thusara extended their fullest support to Rajith. Siri Piyarathne is coached by Hiran Gunawardene.
