Tara was meant to play Princess Jasmine

Tara Sutaria is set to make her acting debut with Punit Malhotra’s ‘Student of the Year 2’, alongside Ananya Panday and Tiger Shroff. But while her first film has already intrigued the viewers and got them excited, the actor recently revealed that she was to play Princess Jasmine in Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of ‘Aladdin’.

The film, co-starring Will Smith, has garnered a lot of interest already.

Tara made this revelation in an interview with Mumbai Mirror. Revealing that she’d even gone to London to attend the film’s workshop, Tara told the portal, “I’d even started training for it in London but ‘SOTY 2’ was on, and there was a lot happening here. Still, training with everyone there was a lifetime’s experience while ‘SOTY 2’ is a dream come true.”

While the role went on to Naomi Scott, fate had something else in store for Tara, who ended up performing with Will Smith in her debut film. About the same, Tara told the entertainment portal, “Yeah, it was such a pleasant surprise.

Life works in funny ways.”

‘Student of the Year 2’, which marks a sequel to Karan Johar’s ‘’Student of the Year that was a launch vehicle for Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, is set to release on May 10.
