Sarana’s corruption case postponed

Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne yesterday postponed the corruption cases filed against former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena for July 19.

Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena is alleged to have secured public funds when obtaining vehicles on rent for the National Lotteries Board, while he was serving as the Chairman of the Board. The Bribery Commission alleged that the accused had committed the offences between 2006 and 2007, while he was National Lotteries Board Chairman. The Magistrate fixed the trial for July 19.
