SPC pays Avurudu bonus after 12 years

After 12 years, the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) paid three months’ bonus to its employees to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

The expenditure on the bonus was Rs. 150 million. The last time a bonus was paid was in 2006, he said.

The profit of the SPC should record an increase of 125 percent to facilitate the payment of bonus. The SPC has already recorded 130 percent increase in profits. The SPC has 1,050 employees.

In 2017, salary increments had been given to 50 SPC employees and there are 43 SPC outlets islandwide. The network of SPC outlets is to be further expanded.

Profits are expected to exceed Rs. 2,000 million this year. The SPC is achieving significant progress under the current Chairman Dr. Rumi Mohamad and under the guidance of Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, he said.
