‘Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith deserves Nobel Prize’

Colombo Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith deserves to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize this year, State Minister M.S.S. Ameer Ali said. Issuing a media statement, he said the conduct of the Archbishop during the Easter Sunday tragedy and its aftermath avoided further violence in the country.

“If not for his request, made on behalf of the Catholic community, there was a possibility of violence erupting again.”

“Not only the Muslim community, but the entire country is bound to respect him. He prevented a huge calamity taking place with his spiritual guidance,” he said.
