Missing youth found drunk

A youth alleged to have been abducted and murdered by two Buddhist monks and six others, was found drunk at a toddy tavern in Anuradhapura, on Wednesday.

The foster mother of the youth, aged 77, had lodged a complaint with the police regarding the incident on June 27, 2016. The youth had served in the army and had later been ordained as a Buddhist monk. He had later left his robes and gone missing.

Queried by the police, the youth said that he left because his foster mother had refused to let him set up a meditation room in their house.

However, police said that that there was a case against him in Mahawilachchiya, and that he would be handed over to the police.
