Immigration law violations: 108 Indian nationals held

The Department of Immigration and Emigration is to deport 108 Indian nationals who had violated immigration laws today.

The suspects had been arrested from Aluthgama and Bentara during a special search operation conducted recently.

Department sources said that they had been working at construction sites in several areas while staying on tourist visas. Some of them had been arrested for overstaying.

The suspects are being detained at the Special Detaining Centre in Mirihana, sources added.
