Following a series of search operations carried out throughout the Galle SP division in the aftermath of Easter Sunday terror attacks, 27 suspects including a Maldivian have been arrested up to Tuesday (30), the Galle SP’s office said.

The arrests were made in raids carried out in Galle, Habaraduwa, Poddala, and Hikkaduwa Police areas.

Among those in police custody are two persons who had CDs containing extremist religious sermons and are believed to have links with the National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ).

The suspects have been identified as residents of Galle, Poddala, Colombo, Battaramulla and Tangalle.

Meanwhile, police investigations reveal that a suspect arrested in the Galle Police Division on Monday (29) had direct links with the NTJ.
