Special Investigation Committee to investigate terror attacks commences work

The Special Investigation Committee appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena to investigate the April 21, attacks which occurred in 08 places in the country commenced its work on April 22.

The Special Investigation Committee headed by Supreme Court Judge Vijith K. Malalgoda includes former IGP N.K. Ilangakoon and former Law & Order Ministry Secretary Padamasiri Jayamanne.

At present, the Investigation Committee has recorded statements from several high ranking state officials including the former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and outgoing IGP Pujith Jayasundara.

It is slated to obtain statements from many other persons. Through advertisements published in several leading newspapers on April 25, the committee requested the public and Organizations to submit information or views in this regard.

The President’s Media Division in a media release said the public can send information and views to the Special Investigation Committee in the following manner.
