The 26th death anniversary of former President Ranasinghe Premadasa will be held today at his statue in Hulftsdorp at 8.30 a.m under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya will also participate in the commemorative event.
The participants will observe two minutes silence in remembrance of the late President and the victims who were killed in the Easter Sunday bomb attacks in Colombo and suburbs after following religious observances.
Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake will garland the statue after the salute by the Security Forces and the police. Former First Lady Hema Premadasa, son Housing Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa, daughter Dulanjalee and family members will participate in this ceremony.
