Zahran’s alleged media secretary held in NCP

A suspect alleged to be the media secretary of deceased NTJ leader Zahran Hashim was ordered to be detained and questioned for 72 hours by Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Janaka Prasanna Samarasinghe yesterday.

He was produced in court by Medawachchiya Police who had arrested him in Talgaswewa.

The Chief Magistrate also ordered the Medawachchiya Police OIC to submit a report to court on further investigations into this case.

The suspect was identified as Abdul Latheef Mohamed of Talgaswewa, Medawachchiya, a father of six. His wife is said to be pregnant with their seventh child, investigations revealed.

The suspect is also said to have acted as the organiser of the NTJ in Kattankudy.

Investigations also revealed that the suspect who is an electrician had left Colombo for his home in Talgaswewa, following the Easter Sunday bombings.
