Former Sri Lanka Thowheed Jamath member arrested

Bandaragama Police on Wednesday night arrested an Assistant Executive Officer of the Expressway Traffic Administrative Office at Gelanigama, Bandaragama who was identified as the ex-Asst Secretary of the Panadura Branch of the Sri Lanka Thowheed Jamath. The arrest was made yesterday on receipt of information of the employees at the Southern Highway Traffic Administrative Office at Gelanigama where the suspect works. Police said the suspect was interrogated and a photograph similar to that of the Shangril-La Hotel suicide bomber was recovered on his Facebook account.

The alleged suspect admitted that he had participated in the lectures conducted by one of the suicide bombers. He has revealed vital information of the suicide bombers. The suspect was to be handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department which is conducting investigations into the recent bomb explosion.

Panadura Additional Magistrate Chandana Kalansooriya ordered the Bandaragama Police to detain and question the suspect for three days.
