A police STF team with the Panadura North Police, on Sunday night, traced the house in the Sarikkalimulla area in Panadura which suicide bombers had allegedly rented for the last two months, paying a rent of Rs. 45,000 per month.

Police officials showed the photograph of the head of the suicide bomber at the Shangri-La Hotel to the landlord who was able to identify the individual. The landlord said the suicide bomber had left the house on Sunday morning dressed in a special clothes, suspected to be suicide kit.

Police said the names of the alleged suicide bombers who rented this house were Mohammed A.M. Mubarak and Mohammed M. Shafeer. No explosives were found.

The Government Analyst and a fingerprint expert had been summoned to the house yesterday for further investigations. Police believe that the bombs had been manufactured in this house.

Meanwhile, a senior police officer of the Panadura Divison revealed that two years ago, the Panadura North Police arrested a Muslim youth who lived in the Sarikkalimulla area in connection with a land case. Police said he had undergone terrorist training in a foreign country.

The suspect is related to a former chairman of the Panadura Pradesiya Sabha. However, then Panadura North Police OIC took no further action against the suspect who had admitted that he had undergone training in terrorist activities abroad. Then Panadura Magistrate had ordered personal bail and released him at that time.

Recently, the STF raided a house in Sarikkalimulla and arrested a suspect who was involved in a massive heroin racket along with a companion of drug lord Madush.
