Teachers await exam duty payments

Schoolteachers who carried out examination duties for the O/L Exam last year said they have not been paid for their services so far by the Department of Examinations.

The supervisors, invigilators, labourers and teachers who evaluated the answers have not been paid. Previously, the teachers in the examination duties were paid in March every year.

United Teachers’ Union General Secretary K. Sanjeewa Bandara told the Daily News yesterday that they urge the authorities to take steps to pay them for their exam duties as soon as possible.

He said the teachers will refrain from carrying out exam duties hereafter if the department does not pay them fast their dues.
