Mahiyangana accident: Bus driver’s identity card suspended

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has suspended the driver identity card of the bus driver involved in the tragic private bus-van collision on the Badulla - Mahiyangana road resulting in the death of 10 persons that occurred in the wee hours of April 17.

This action by the National Transport Commission is in addition to the investigation conducted by the Mahiyangana Police regarding the driver of the Bus No NC 4798.

National Transport Commission Chairman Janaka Mallimarachchi, said the Commission too would conduct its own investigation regarding the bus driver in addition to the Police investigation.
