Two more deported Madhush accomplices arrested at BIA

Dubai Court postpones Madhush’s appeal:

Two other accomplices of drug king-pin Makandure Madhush who were deported from Dubai were arrested on arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday. They arrived on-board SriLankan Airlines flight UL 226 at 5.55 am yesterday, according to the Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara.

“The two suspects who were deported yesterday are Piyal Pushpa Kumara and Mohomed Afridi Mohomed Inham. Upon arrival at the BIA, the two were taken into custody by the BIA Crime Investigation Division for interrogation,” the Police Spokesman said.

Piyal Pushpakumara had been employed in Dubai for the past 19 years as a chef and is said to have no connection to Madhush. According to informed sources, he had been invited to the function by the head chef of the hotel.

Out of the 31 persons who had attended Madhush’s party and were arrested in Dubai, 23 of them have been deported so far. However, another eight persons including drug kingpin Makandure Madhush and singer Amal Perera are still being held in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Madhush’s 32-year-old cousin Nilan Romesh Samarasinghe who was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) last Wednesday was produced before the Negombo Magistrate, yesterday.

He was ordered to be remanded until April 22.

Samarasinghe together with five others were deported from Dubai on April 17 and were taken in for questioning by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the BIA.

However, a source close to Singer Amal Perera said that he is scheduled to be deported shortly.

However, it was reported that the Dubai court yesterday had postponed its decision to May 02, on the appeal made by Makadure Madhush against his deportation to Sri Lanka.
