H’tota PMB purchases nearly 9 MT of nadu

The Hambantota Paddy Marketing Board has purchased 8,943,950 kilograms of nadu from farmers in the Hambantota district Regional PMB Manager Suranga Senanayaka said.

Apart from that, 33,000 kilograms of samba was also bought, at a cost of Rs.341 million, he said.

Senanayaka added that 706,650 kilograms of nadu and 22,200 kilograms of samba have been bought at a cost of Rs.27 million.

He said that farmers in Hambantota and Moneragala districts had been left high and dry due to the lack of proper facilities to transport their paddy harvests to PMB stores.
