Acute Art teacher shortage in Ibbagamuwa

There is an acute shortage of Art teachers at schools in the Ibbagamuwa Educational Zone.

Ibbagamuwa Education Zone Art Subject Director Malini Rajakaruna said, "There are 116 schools and

pirivenas in Ibbagamuwa, but only 25 Art teachers are employed at them."

She added that in most of the schools, the subject is taught not by Art teachers but by teachers of other subjects.

She said that students in the area obtained good results in the Art subject solely due to their dedication, as well as that of their other subject teachers."

Parents said that their children would be able to obtain better results and exhibit their talents and skills if the authorities employed a sufficient number of qualified teachers, as well as the necessary facilities.
