Residents urge PS to prevent pollution of forest reserves

Ibbagamuwa residents requested the Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) to take measures to prevent people from dumping garbage in the Kirindigalla and Omaragolla forest reserves, recently.

Several members of the Ibbagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha, too, requested the Chairman to seek the possibility of taking legal action against the culprits.

This request was made during the previous monthly meeting of the Pradeshiya Sabha.

They added that the forest reserves had been polluted with waste from hotels, meat stalls, and fish stalls.

The PS chairman said that the culprits could be brought to book under the Pradeshiya Sabha Act. He also said that the dearth of Pradeshiya Sabha staffers would also be addressed soon.
